One of the amazing aspects to living in the pacific northwest is that you are never far away from nature and incredible hikes, waterfalls, mountains, the ocean…the list goes on!
We love being able to run out for an afternoon hike, and this weekend was no different. Our adventure landed us at Little Zig Zag Waterfalls near Mt. Hood. It’s a short walk, but it was a fun beginner hike for our new rescue dog, Rosey.

While it was 70 degrees in Portland, it was quite chilly up on the mountain. I was so happy that I brought my new Splendid Active Studio Wrap along for the trip. Honestly, this sweater may be the softest sweater I own, and so versatile! It can be worn open as a drape front cardigan, and also snapped closed when you need a little more warmth. One of the coolest aspects is the detachable sleeve extenders with thumbholes….genius!
My overall casual day style usually starts with a similar base as you can see below, denim skinny jeans, a neutral layering tank (Beloved Camisole, YourSummerSkin.com) and my New Balance kicks. (Side note: I’m a bit of a New Balance addict, as you will see later)

The wrap easily snaps closed, and converts to an entirely different style. I was so thrilled to be able to wrap up tighter when we got out of the car and realized just how cold it had become.
We started on the hike and noticed that it was a bit muddier than we had anticipated, so we made a quick wardrobe change into some leggings and a different pair of New Balance sneakers. (I told you that I love my New Balance)
I also wanted to highlight how much I love these sleeve attachments. We all love thumbholes, but it’s awesome to have the option to take them off!
