Meditation Motivation

meditation-motivation

As you all are aware, I spend a lot of my free time doing yoga and working on being more mindful…it’s a slow and ongoing process and I’m needing some new meditation motivation!

The more I practice the more I realize how important these moments are to slow down, breathe and calm my mind. Lately, I find that I am saying more and more to myself that “I’m just too busy today,” or “I’m too tired,” or “I’ll practice in the morning.”

One of my favorite old zen sayings is “You should sit in meditation for 20 minutes a day, unless you’re too busy; then you should sit for an hour.”

The benefits of meditation reach farther than simply calming the mind. Meditation has been shown to improve focus, energy, mood, empathy, as well as increase the areas of your brain related to memory, self-control and attention.

Even for me, someone who fully understands the benefits, it’s difficult to make time for yoga and meditation. However, I do find that I respond to symbols or quotes for motivation. I tend to follow many yogis on social media for inspiration and have always loved the tree of life symbol as a visual reminder that everything is connected.

Tree of Life Symbol

The Tree of Life symbol dates back thousands of years and versions of this symbol have persisted through all major religions and spiritual texts. Most interpretations of this symbol are based on a tree that contains special powers to produce or sustain life.

For me, I view the Tree of Life, not necessarily as a religious symbol, but as a symbol that we are all connected to the Earth and to each other. Deep roots, vast extending branches and the leaving behind of seeds that build and rebuild forests. A core that is built on the tree’s wisdom of age, and nature’s ability to sustain itself, regrow when wounded, and learn from its mistakes.

I’m always drawn to jewelry or decor that captures those symbols or presence that speak to me. I came across Enlightened Anonymous’s bracelet sets, I knew I wanted to give them a try. If you’re looking for a nice gift for yourself or the mindful souls in your life, then these bracelets (at this great price!) won’t disappoint.
