Halloween Crafts With Kids 2018

crafts-kids-halloween-2018

My daughter and I love doing seasonal and holiday themed crafts and this year is no different. With what we had in the house, we did one Halloween craft this weekend (shown in the featured image), and we picked out some more of our favorite kid crafts that are on the list.

Our toilet paper roll witches from craftymorning.com took some figuring out because the instructions were a little vague. I will also add that I don’t consider myself to be the most sophisticated craft creator, but that has never stopped us from trying! We focus on the fun we have in the process and sometimes we end up just getting a giggle when things don’t work out the way we thought.

Here is what we did to complete these fun creations:

We used the following items:

  • Construction paper – Black, Green, Orange, Blue and Brown
  • Scissors
  • Stapler
  • Washable Glue
  • Toilet paper rolls
  • Sharpie

We first rolled the toilet paper rolls in black construction paper and set them aside to dry as we cut out the other shapes. My daughter cut out the eyes and drew the faces, as well as cut the round circles for the hat brims. To create the hair, I cut a rectangle of orange paper in the length of the circumference of the toilet paper roll, and then cut slits along the full length of the rectangle. I then used a pen to roll the paper sections up to create curls. Once we had the faces completed I measured the width of the face and cut the bangs to match.

We also decided to add a felt cape to our witches, which my daughter cut out. We used a stapler to attach the felt and the hair in the back. The last piece were the hats, and they were a little tricky. We made a cone out of black paper, cut a hole through the center of our brim circles, pushed the cone through the brim and secured with glue. The hat belts finished the witch’s looks, and were made with three layered rectangles of blue and orange paper.

We also found these other crafts that we are excited to work on this month. Let me know if you have tried any of these and if you have any tips.

Paper Pumpkins

I think these are so pretty! The options are endless, and you can easily match your decor by selecting different paper and you are not limited to standard pumpkin orange. Check out the full instructions at itsalwaysautumn.com!

Tattle Monsters

I don’t know about your families, but we go through a lot of tissues in the Fall and Winter. I loved this creative way to reuse the empty tissue boxes from Giggles Galore! The author used spray paint to cover the tissue boxes, but I would think you could also use contact paper or a paper mache type of cover. (I don’t usually have spray paint on hand). Click here for full detailed instructions.

Clothespin Zombie Puppets

These might be the cutest and most creative ways to use clothespins that I’ve seen! This tutorials from easypeasyandfun.com walks you through how to make the zombie, but you can see that you can also make cats and dracula…I’m in love with these!

Popsicle Stick and Yarn Spider Webs

Looking for an easy and quick craft? These spider webs are perfect, very little cutting or measuring, but so much fun and the result is adorable. The full instructions are at buggyandbuddy.com.

If you want more ideas, you can check out the other crafts we did in my post from last year Make Your Halloween Decorations By Upcycling which were a big hit!

I would love to see what you all are working on this Halloween! My daughter is 7, so we chose these based on age and skill level. What crafts are you all doing for younger or older aged kids? Comment below and Happy Crafting loves!
