Shakey Graves, a Gentleman from Texas.

First, I would just like to note that when we are once again able, a Shakey Graves show is not one to miss. As a Freckles’ Favorite, Shakey Graves delivers the perfect mix of soul, folk, rock, stage presence and a recognizably unique voice of which I can’t get enough.

…I’m also NOT just saying this because he composed a birthday opera for me (blushing)…the birthday opera is a result of being a longtime fan. I have seen him live in both Portland, OR and Bend, OR.

My favorite Shakey Graves

I was first introduced to Shakey Graves through a good friend of mine and the youtube recording of Dearly Departed….brace yourself….you won’t be able to stop singing this once you hear it.

While most likely one of his most watched videos, there are so many other songs that have captured my heart in addition to Dearly Departed. One of my all time favorite songs is the ballad Hard Wired.

“If Not For You” and “Roll the Bones” will get me every time…

The latest album, Look Alive (2020) has me swooning. You can get access to the latest tracks on his site shakeygraves.com.

“In general, all art is just proof of life. It’s all just sort of shouting into the void that you exist.”

Shakey Graves

The Hello Gorgeous Episode 2 is well worth watching (below). The quote above is one of my favorites, and all the more reason that I adore this artist. Authenticity.

Happy Listening.

Love, your Freckles.
