Happy Mid-November all! It’s hard to believe that the holidays are almost here!
You all know by now that I am passionate about sun protection, sunscreen and skin health. I am always on the hunt for new and innovative products that help us easily incorporate sun protection into our routines. One of the most common questions that I receive is “which sunscreen should I use?” and my reply is always the same…”the one you’ll wear.” I don’t say that to be noncommittal. I say that because the only sunscreen that will work for you is the one that you will consistently use. Sunscreen won’t work if you don’t wear it.
I also am painfully aware that it isn’t easy to wear sunscreen every day, and it really isn’t easy to reapply it during the day. Facial sunscreen in particular is a challenge to find one that you like, works well your skin, doesn’t irritate, and that can easily be reapplied during the day. For example, I live with chronic seborrheic dermatitis that likes to flare when I try new products, so I have to be cautious and review the ingredients prior to starting a new regimen.
Choosing The Best Sunscreen For You
How do you know which one will work for you? The answer is that you have try a lot of them, and that’s tough and can get expensive. I understand. So….I have set out to try as many sunscreen products as I can, and provide my feedback to you so you can have a little more info when you are searching for new products.
The product that I’m reviewing today is ZINC IT OVER® by Seriously FAB. ZINC IT OVER® is a non-nano Zinc-based mineral sunscreen mist. Let me first say that if you are looking for a quick over-makeup sunscreen mist then this product is one you should try!
My schedule is jam-packed every day, and I’m constantly on the go and the sun care products that I have with me need to fit in my purse and be easy to grab and apply.
ZINC IT OVER® comes in a compact mister bottle that is easy to take with you, and super quick to mist on and go. I have been carrying it around with me all week, and it was one of the 3 things I grabbed as I ran out the door my dance class.
Let’s chat about the ingredients… ZINC IT OVER® is a clean beauty product that is cruelty free, vegan, uses natural products with antioxidants, non-nano Zinc and is free of gluten, parabens, GMOs, phthalates, talc and other nasties! (If you want to learn more about specific ingredients check out this post by Green Beauty and Nutrition Expert, Jessica Belknap). The clean composition of this product is very important to me as my dermatitis will tell me right away if it disagrees with the ingredients.
ZINC IT OVER® comes in three scents – unscented, Citrus Passion and Tropical Floral. Typically, I stay away from all scents as they tend to irritate my skin and are too overpowering for me, but these scents are delicate and delightful. I particularly enjoyed the Citrus Passion.
I will admit that I was curious (and maybe a little skeptical) to see how a sunscreen mist would apply, thinking that maybe it would leave me looking and feeling shiny during the day. But…I am happy to report that ZINC IT OVER® sets nicely with almost a matte finish and no greasy feeling.
The only drawback that I saw of ZINC IT OVER® is that it only an SPF 25. I typically choose products that have an SPF of at least 30 if I am going to be spending considerable time in the sun. However, for this product I would make an exception as I use this product for those grab-and-go moments. I would rather have SPF 25 than no SPF at all.
Overall, ZINC IT OVER® is a do-good, feel-good, skin happy product!
